Boarding helped me to gain control of myself

“After a childhood full of family problems, moving around and bad school attendance, the RNCF helped me see life in a whole different way by finding me a place at Roedean as a weekly boarder, helping me to gain control of myself and my future choices… I would wish nothing more than for other children, who are in difficult situations like I was in, to also be lucky enough to benefit from the RNCF’s life changing help.”

16-year-old Linda has had to deal with a lot in her short life. After facing the heartbreak associated with dealing with her Mum’s self-destructive addictions and untimely death, she then had to come to terms with the loss of her grandmother who, for nine years, had been her main carer but who was tragically diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away in 2014.

After attending Roedean School with the help of the RNCF, Linda recently completed her GCSEs with 6 A*s and 3 As. She is now studying for her A-levels and is hoping to become a production designer in film.
