“Boarding School can be a life-changing experience"
As Patron of the Royal National Children’s Foundation, I have seen many vulnerable young people whose lives have been transformed by attendance at boarding school. Since it closed its own schools more than 40 years ago, the RNCF has – with the help of other charities and the schools themselves – supported more than 3,000 vulnerable young people at state maintained and independent boarding schools throughout the United Kingdom.
On behalf of RNCF/ SpringBoard and its partner schools and charities, I support the Boarding School Partnerships initiative to help more vulnerable young people benefit from what can be a truly life-changing experience.
HRH The Princess Royal has been Patron of the Royal National Children's Foundation since 2002, has been a regular speaker at the charity's annual conference and has hosted fund-raising functions for its beneficiaries. She will be Patron of the new assisted boarding charity formed in July 2017 by the merger of RNCF and the SpringBoard Bursary Foundation.
