Royal Alexandra
& Albert School

Royal Alexandra & Albert School (RAA) in Reigate, Surrey can trace its origins back to 1758 when a group of City business people collected the funds to create a boarding School for orphan boys and girls. It opened in 1760.

The school is committed to fostering Christian principles within a caring community, where people of all faiths and beliefs are made welcome.

Gatton Park with its three lakes, serpentine and 260 acres of parkland provides the ideal setting for our school. Our purpose-built classrooms provide first class facilities for study. Purpose-build boarding houses provide comfortable, modern accommodation for Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary pupils.

Predominantly a boarding school, we provide continuity of education from seven to eighteen years. Unusually, we are able to provide the very best of boarding education at reasonable fees. As a state school, we are only able to admit children from UK or EU families.

Our Mission Statement, Ethos and Ambitions underline all that we do, and the way in which we teach in School and care for pupils in their boarding environment.

Mission Statement

"Royal Alexandra and Albert School is committed to providing an environment in which all will achieve their full academic, social and spiritual potential in order to become valued members of society."

The Trustees of the school offer each year a number of Foundationer boarder places to applicants who have a demonstrable need for boarding.

The main criterion is a lack of parental care where no other suitable care is available. This situation can arise through:

When making a decision about whether to offer a bursary, Governors will need to be satisfied that home circumstances are such that the child would not thrive if he/she attended a local day school.

RAA is one of the leading schools involved in Assisted Boarding places co-funded with the charities RNCF, SpringBoard, Buttle, and Reedham.
